Why Symptoms Flare Around the Full Moon

The full moon is coming up, so pay attention to how you feel in the days leading up to it.


If you notice increased irritability, sleep disruption, sugar cravings, itching, anxiety, or other parasitic-type symptoms… there may be a reason. Here’s the connection.


Most people know melatonin as our “sleep hormone,” but it’s also critical for immune function.

And serotonin? We think of it as the feel-good neurotransmitter, but it’s actually the precursor to melatonin.


Light (even moonlight) can interfere with the conversion of serotonin into melatonin.


Parasites are responsive to serotonin. They actually have serotonin receptors, which allows them to increase activity when serotonin levels rise.


So during the full moon, when serotonin can increase and melatonin can drop, you may see a temporary dip in immune efficiency alongside increased parasitic activity. That’s why many people notice symptom flares around the full moon, and why some choose to time cleansing protocols accordingly.
