- The ‘normal’ lab trap — and how to escape it
Ever been told your labs are “normal”… but you still feel anything but normal? Fatigue, mood swings, skin issues, bloat, anxiety, stubborn weight and it’s brushed off as “just aging” or “in your head.” Here’s what no one tells you: Most lab ranges are based on averages from the general public (not optimal health). And thanks to insurance limitations, many doctors can’t - or won’t - order the deeper tests that actually reveal what’s going on. That’s where functional testing comes in. I use a range of advanced labs to uncover what’s really driving your symptoms so we can support your body with targeted solutions that actually work. Here are some of my favorite root-cause labs to work with: 🧫 Parasite Testing (Parasitology Center) – $284.65 This is one of the most comprehensive parasite stool analyses available. It identifies over 50 types of parasites, including protozoa, roundworms, flukes, and tapeworms - many of which go undetected on standard tests. Symptoms like bloating, skin issues, mood swings, and even fatigue or autoimmune flares often trace back to parasitic infections that traditional labs miss. This test uses multiple-day stool collection to catch what others don’t. 🧠 Organic Acids Test (OAT) (Mosaic Diagnostics) – $370 This is a powerhouse test. It screens for candida, mold metabolites, neurotransmitter imbalances, nutrient deficiencies, and mitochondrial function all in one. 🦠 MycoTOX Mold Test (Mosaic Diagnostics) – $350 Tests for 11 mold toxins in urine. Mold is sneaky, and blood testing often misses it. If you’ve had water damage, lived in humid climates, or have mysterious symptoms, this one’s worth it. 🧪 TOXDetect Environmental Toxin Test (Mosaic Diagnostics) – $214 Screens for 27 environmental toxins including glyphosate, BPA, VOCs, pesticides, parabens, and more. This is especially important if you use conventional body care or live in a city. 🧬 Tickborne BBB Plus (Mosaic Diagnostics) – $1,020 Lyme and coinfections like Bartonella and Babesia are often missed in traditional testing. If you’ve ever had a weird rash, mysterious joint pain, or neurologic symptoms - this is key. 💇♀️ Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA) (Analytical Research Labs) - $200 Reveals patterns in metabolism, adrenal health, mineral deficiencies, and heavy metal toxicity. Comes with a 30+ page report breaking down your results. Click here to order. 🧠 DNA Testing (The DNA Company) - $499 This 275+ page report gives deep insight into your genetics, from hormones to mood, detox pathways, cardiovascular health, and more. Optimize your best genes and quiet the ones holding you back. 🦋 Thyroid & General Bloodwork (YourLabWork) – $99+ I recommend the Thyroid Nation “Let’s Get the Party Started” panel — it includes a full thyroid panel (not just TSH), and you can build on it with hormone, nutrient, or cardiac labs as needed. Why do I use these labs? Because bloodwork alone doesn’t always tell the full story. → Parasites, mold, and toxins rarely show up on standard blood labs. → Blood changes by the hour — stool, hair, urine, and DNA show deeper, more long-term patterns. → Most doctors aren’t trained in functional or root-cause testing. That’s where I come in. Get Your Custom Lab Breakdown + Protocol Every lab I order comes with a personalized summary + protocol recommendations from me (via email) — no more trying to Google your results in a panic. Insurance & Reimbursement Info Insurance typically doesn’t cover these labs, but many can provide superbills you can submit for potential reimbursement. If you’ve been searching for answers and hitting a wall — let’s look deeper. These tests have helped so many of my clients finally understand what their bodies are telling them. 📩 Ready to get started? Shoot me a DM or book a call today! P.S. If you’ve never done any functional testing before, I usually recommend starting with the OAT, HTMA, or Parasite Testing. They each give you a different but powerful lens into your health — and can explain things your regular labs never could.
- My Bloodwork Was “Normal.” My Hair Told a Different Story. ✂️
✂️ When your hair holds more secrets than your lab results... My bloodwork was “normal.” My hair told a very different story. About ten years ago, I did something that completely changed the way I looked at my health. I tested my hair. And I was shocked by what I found. At the time, I thought I was doing a lot of things right. And my bloodwork certainly wasn't raising any major red flags. In fact, my nutrient levels were all coming back within normal ranges. But my Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA) told a very different story. I was deficient in several key minerals, including zinc, chromium, selenium, potassium and iron. But it's not just about whether you have enough of each individual nutrient. Many minerals need to be in the proper balance with one another for your body to function optimally - for example, zinc and copper, calcium and magnesium, and sodium and potassium. Of the six major mineral ratios measured on my test, I was only balanced in one. That was a huge eye-opener for me because I realized that simply having a nutrient level fall within a "normal" range doesn't necessarily tell you the whole story. The balance between minerals matters, too. And then there were the heavy metals. My test showed aluminum toxicity and a small amount of mercury. It also gave me insight into patterns related to stress, blood sugar regulation, metabolism and protein synthesis that helped me understand why I wasn't feeling my best. That test was a game changer for me. It made me realize that "normal" bloodwork doesn't necessarily mean everything is optimal. So why look at hair? Blood and hair give you different types of information. Standard bloodwork can be incredibly valuable, but it primarily provides a snapshot of what's happening in your body at a particular point in time. HTMA looks at mineral patterns in hair over a period of time, which can provide another piece of the puzzle when you're trying to understand what's happening beneath the surface. I've also seen this with clients. Some have had bloodwork that didn't show elevated heavy metals, yet their HTMA showed concerning patterns. Others have been told they were iron deficient based on blood markers, while their hair showed a very different mineral picture. That's why I don't believe in looking at one test in isolation. If you don't feel like yourself but your labs keep coming back "normal," sometimes the answer is to dig deeper, not simply accept that everything is fine. HTMA measures 21 minerals and elements and looks at mineral patterns, ratios, stress patterns and potential toxic element exposure. You'll also receive a 30+ page personalized report breaking down results, and includes reecommended supplements and diet/lifestyle tweaks based on your unique results. For me, getting this information allowed me to fine-tune my diet, eliminate potential sources of metal exposure and make targeted changes to support my body. And I feel better now in my forties that I did in my twenties. If you've ever felt like something is off despite "normal" labs, HTMA may be worth exploring. A few details about the test: ✂️ HTMA: $200 💳 HSA funds can be used to purchase the test. 💇♀️ What does the hair sample involve? Hair is typically taken from the nape of the neck, and you'll want approximately 1½ inches of fresh hair growth. Your test kit comes with a hair scale so you'll know when you've collected enough. And don't freak out, you really don't need much hair! If you're bald or don't have enough hair on your head, other body hair can be used, including pubic or arm hair. One important thing to know: dyed or bleached hair can affect the results, so it's best to wait approximately 6 weeks after coloring or bleaching your hair before collecting and submitting your sample. 🥗 Optional diet recommendations: +$40 If you'd like personalized diet recommendations based on your unique hair profile, you can add this option for an additional $40. These recommendations are provided by the lab based on your individual results. Click here to order your test!
- Full Moon TONIGHT 🌕 Feeling “Off”? Here’s Why…
🌕 Happy full moon! Ever feel “off” around the full moon - extra tired, moody, bloated, sugar cravings, more impulsive or struggling to sleep? You’re not imagining it. The full moon doesn’t just light up the sky… it activates parasites, disrupts your brain chemistry, and can trigger a surprising number of symptoms. 🌕 The next full moon hits tonight and here’s what happens inside your body: 🧠 Melatonin drops – your immune system weakens, making you more vulnerable 💥 Serotonin spikes – this “feel good” neurotransmitter doesn’t just affect you… 🦠 Parasites thrive on serotonin – using it to move, feed, reproduce, and build biofilms that help them hide from your immune system Add it all together and the full moon creates the perfect storm for parasites to become more active and wreak havoc, causing everything from digestive issues, anxiety, rashes, and insomnia… to migraines, mood swings and joint pain. Some people also experience a spike in symptoms around the new moon (when the sky is darkest) - that’s happening September 10th. Notice anything around that time too? Bottom line... If these symptoms flare up around the full moon, parasites may be the missing piece.😉 Click here to start your detox. #sturgeonmoon #fullmoonproblems #parasites #parasitesymptoms #fullmooncleanse

- The CDC Says Parasites Are Here. Let’s Talk Life Cycles. 👀🪱
🪱 “Parasites aren’t really a thing in the U.S.” Oh, really? 👀 Next time someone tells you parasites only happen “somewhere else,” you can politely send them to the CDC. 😉 Parasites absolutely occur in the United States, and there are multiple ways people can be exposed depending on the parasite including through food, water, soil, animals, and undercooked meat or fish. And we're not talking about just one type. There are flukes, tapeworms, roundworms, protozoa and more, each with their own life cycles, transmission routes and characteristics. 🪱 And that life cycle matters. Understanding how parasites develop from eggs and larvae to adults can give you a much better understanding of why parasite cleansing isn't necessarily as simple as “take something and you're done.” I compiled various life cycles directly from CDC date so you can see exactly what we're talking about. 👇 They’re here. 🪱🇺🇸 Learn how to detox. #Parasites #ParasiteCleanse #GutHealth #HolisticNutrition #ParasiteAwareness #GutHealthTips #WellnessJourney #HolisticHealth #parasitecleanse #Dewormed #youhaveworms

You’ve got questions. I’ve got answers. I get so many people reaching out to me with questions about parasite cleansing, but they don’t necessarily want to book a full consultation or spend an hour going through their entire history. And sometimes you simply want to get a feel for where to start, who to trust, or what you may actually need before committing to a longer consultation. And honestly, I completely understand that! So, I’ve decided to try something new: 15-Minute Quick Info Sessions for just $25. This is a super low-investment way to hop on a quick call with me, ask your questions, and get some direction without committing to a full consultation. Fifteen minutes simply isn’t enough time for that! But it is enough time to get some answers, point you in the right direction, and help you feel a little less overwhelmed about where to start. And this is available for current clients too! I know sometimes you may have a few questions come up but don’t necessarily want to commit to another 30–60 minute session just to get them answered. This gives you an easy way to check in without making a bigger time commitment. - The truth about fish, parasites & omega-3s
Y’all… we need to talk about fish. 😬🐟 Fish has been marketed as one of the ultimate “health foods” - lean protein, omega-3s, heart healthy, brain healthy, etc. But there’s a side of the fish story that doesn’t get nearly as much attention: PARASITES + HEAVY METALS + WHAT’S ACTUALLY IN THAT FISH OIL Yes, fish can carry parasites Most people hear “parasites in fish” and immediately think sushi. But parasites aren’t exclusive to sushi. Wild-caught fish (both freshwater AND saltwater) can harbor a variety of parasites, including protozoa, tapeworms, roundworms/nematodes and flukes. Some studies have reported very high rates of nematode infection in certain wild fish populations, with particularly striking findings in salmon. The BC Centre for Disease Control, for example, has reported that a substantial percentage of wild Pacific salmon can be infected with nematodes. And researchers studying fresh-caught Alaskan salmon have reported finding nematodes in essentially every fish examined in certain samples. And before you think, “Well, I only buy farmed fish…” That comes with its own concerns. Farm-raised fish can also have parasitic infections, while aquaculture practices can introduce additional concerns related to antibiotics, pesticides, environmental contaminants and other residues. So there isn't necessarily a simple “wild = good, farmed = bad” answer. “But I don't eat sushi…” I hear this one all the time. And yes, properly handling and cooking fish is important. Commercial freezing and adequate cooking can dramatically reduce the risk of many fish-borne parasites. But here's the part that gets interesting: You can't necessarily tell that a fish contains parasites just by looking at it. Visible worms may be removed during processing, but microscopic parasite stages or larvae aren't something you can simply spot with your eyes. And your regular household freezer isn't necessarily equivalent to the commercial parasite-control freezing procedures used by the seafood industry. Certain parasites are also more resistant to environmental conditions than people realize. That's one reason proper seafood handling, sourcing and preparation matter. And if you're someone who is already focused on digestive health and keeping your body's detoxification pathways supported, it's worth knowing what you're putting into your body. Read more about parasites & cleansing What about mercury? Parasites aren't the only concern. Fish can also be a source of mercury exposure. A simple rule of thumb is that larger, longer-lived predatory fish tend to accumulate more mercury because of bioaccumulation. Think of fish higher up the food chain: they eat smaller fish, which have accumulated mercury from their environment, and that exposure can build over time. This is why fish selection matters. Read more about mercury toxicity And then there's fish oil… Here's where things get REALLY interesting. Omega-3 fatty acids (particularly EPA and DHA)are important nutrients. But taking a fish oil capsule doesn't automatically mean you're getting a high-quality source of omega-3s. Many conventional fish oils undergo extensive processing, and oils are particularly vulnerable to oxidation if they aren't properly sourced, manufactured and stored. Poor-quality or oxidized oil isn't something I'd want to casually add to my daily routine. And while people often focus on getting MORE omega-3s, I think we also need to talk about the other side of the equation: What are you doing about your excessive omega-6 intake? Balance between omega-3 and omega-6 is key. Modern diets can be heavily weighted toward omega-6-rich processed foods and seed oils. Traditional diets are often estimated to have had an omega-6-to-omega-3 ratio around 4:1 or lower, while modern Western diets commonly range from 10:1 to 20:1, depending on the population and diet. Another important caveot: Not every omega-3 supplement is pure EPA/DHA. Depending on the product, the oil can contain other fatty acids INCLUDING omega-6, so you may not be improving your omega-3-to-omega-6 balance as much as you think. So rather than simply adding more omega-3 on top of an inflammatory, highly processed diet, a good goal is to move toward a more balanced ratio by reducing excess omega-6 sources while increasing quality omega-3s.So what do I recommend? I'm not saying “never eat fish again.” In fact, fish can provide valuable protein and omega-3s. I'm saying be intentional about your sources. ✔️ Choose smaller, lower-mercury fish more often ✔️ Pay attention to sourcing and handling ✔️ Properly cook and prepare seafood ✔️ Don't assume “wild-caught” automatically means parasite-free ✔️ Minimize heavily processed foods and seed oils ✔️ Opt for krill or algal oil vs fish oil ✔️ Look for reputable third-party testing when choosing supplements ✔️ Detox regularly so new parasite exposures can't get a stronghold ✔️ Support your body's natural detoxification systems with a nutrient-dense diet and healthy lifestyle I want you to know BOTH sides of the story so you can make informed decisions about what you're putting on your plate. - Bees sting to heal, not harm
Last month, I shared how my son was bitten by a Rottweiler and had to get stitches... and how we worked to get him back on the football field and basketball court within just 2 weeks. Wild if you saw the before pics 😬 At one of his first football practice back, he got stung by a bee on his right forearm, directly beside the wound site.🐝🤕 When he told me I was like, "SO cool!! Good lookin out bee!" Bees sting to heal, not to harm. Bee venom contains a powerful amino acid called melittin, which has strong antimicrobial properties. Bees also operate through frequency. Their antennae can detect frequencies in their environment in the range of approximately 265–350 Hz. They hover and sting in areas where they sense discomfort or imbalance. Bees have been known to sting in areas where fascia is holding emotional stagnation, where cancer is present, or where there is muscle pain or spinal injury. These are all expressions of imbalance in the body's energy projections. Some integrative oncologists incorporate bee venom therapy into their holistic cancer treatments, and bee venom has also found its way into a range of anti-aging skincare products. And it's not just the venom that's magical - local bee pollen, royal jelly, honeycomb, and propolis have powerful medicinal properties. The next time you get stung, thank the bee. Depending on the species, she may have risked her life to help you heal. 🐝 #beesting #beevenom #savethebees #beevenomtherapy #beestings
