Is Your Gut Leaking Toxins Into Your Bloodstream?

Leaky gut happens when the lining of your intestines becomes too permeable, allowing toxins and undigested food particles to pass into the bloodstream. Once those particles get through, they trigger the immune system and create widespread inflammation.
Over time, this can lead to food sensitivities, allergies, digestive issues, autoimmune conditions, and a constantly overworked immune system, making you more likely to catch viruses or other infections. Considering that roughly 80% of your immune system lives in your gut, you can see how important gut health really is for your overall wellness.
Outside of parasites (which literally feed on and damage the intestinal lining), one of the biggest drivers of leaky gut is gluten, found in all grains, including corn and rice. Gluten is an inflammatory protein that increases the body’s release of zonulin, which controls the “tight junctions” in the gut wall. Too much zonulin causes those junctions to open, allowing toxins to leak into the bloodstream.
Other common triggers include:
• Medications like NSAIDs, birth control, antibiotics, immunosuppressants, corticosteroids, and antacids
• Plastics and toxins
• GMO foods
• Over-exercising
• Infections
Healing your gut lining is one of the most powerful things you can do to restore balance and strengthen your immune system. Key nutrients that help rebuild and protect the gut barrier include:
L-glutamine – fuels and repairs gut cells
Zinc – supports tissue repair and tight junction integrity
Colostrum – soothes inflammation and helps rebuild the mucosal lining
Probiotics – restore a healthy microbiome and lower inflammation
Your body can’t fully heal until your gut does.
