Top 4 reasons for thyroid dysfunction

Thyroid dysfunction is one of the greatest health concerns plaguing women ages 30-50 (it doesn't impact men nearly as much, the ratio is 10:1). This includes hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, Hashimoto's, Graves, thyroid cancer, thyroiditis, goiters and nodules.

Allopathic medicine often paints thyroid disorders as genetic or stemming from another disorder, and usually results in a prescription for thyroid medication. Natural medicine shoots to target the root cause of the thyroid disorder and uses detox, diet and lifestyle changes to improve thyroid function naturally.

There are four primary drivers for thyroid dysfunction. When targeted & treated appropriately, they can be a game changer for turning around thyroid dysfunction.

1. Infections, primarily from viruses, bacteria & parasites. These types of infections are considered primary drivers for autoimmune conditions and Hashimoto's has been linked to parasite infection Blastocystis hominis and bacterial infection H. pylori. Epstein-Barr, herpes, HTLV-1, mumps and rubella are all linked to thyroid disease.

2. Nutrient deficiencies in iodine, selenium, zinc, B vitamins, magnesium, Vitamins A, D & E along with protein can lead to thyroid dysfunction. This makes vegans and vegetarians a target since they tend to be lacking in a lot of these.

3. Poor gut health or leaky gut, which is when toxins from your intestinal tract spill into your bloodstream because the intestinal lining has become permeable. This usually stems from an inflammatory diet lacking solid nutrition, stress, food sensitivities, toxins and infections.

4. Toxins in our air, food, water, toiletries, cleaning supplies, EMF's, etc. These are unavoidable, build up over time and lead to inflammation and disease.

There are several steps you can take to support your thyroid and reverse dysfunction:

  • Use a protocol to open up your drainage pathways so toxins can be eliminated. Follow that with a pathogen/toxin cleanse.

  • Supplement with thyroid supporting vitamins & herbs like iodine, selenium, ashwagandha, B vitamins, zinc, Omega 3's & magnesium.

  • Help heal your gut by eating an organic, anti-inflammatory diet rich in plants and healthy fats.

  • Get a professional-grade water filter.

  • Use natural toiletries & cleaning products.
